The Tower Hill Trust

The Tower Hill Trust (registered charity no 206225) was formerly known as the Tower Hill Improvement Trust.  The Trust shares with the Wakefield Trust (see www.wakefieldtrust.org.uk) an office in Bethnal Green, which is staffed by a part-time Secretary and Treasurer, and a part-time Grants Officer.  The Trust’s fixed assets consist entirely of freehold property, investments and deposits, which produce income for grant purposes.  The object of the Trust is to use its income for the promotion of charitable purposes for the general benefit of the public in the Trust’s area of operation (Great Tower Hill, Tower Hill, and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets), especially for:

a)      the relief of the aged, impotent and poor

b)      the relief of distress and sickness

c)      the provision and support (with the object of improving the condition of life for the said inhabitants in the interests of social welfare) of facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupations;

d)      the provision and support of educational facilities;

e)      the provision of gardens and open spaces for the general benefit of the said inhabitants and the maintenance thereof.

The Trustees normally meet four times a year – usually in March, June, September and December - for the purpose of considering applications for grants as well as to deal with any other matters affecting the Trust
