Welcome to Tower Hill Trust

Tower Hill Trust is an independent charitable trust. The Trust was set up in 1934 to improve the area around Tower Hill. The provision of gardens and open public spaces remains a primary purpose to this day, however new funding priorities are in place here and the area of benefit now includes the whole of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The Trust is a registered Charity: Registered Charity number 206225.

About the Trust

The Trust can only fund activities that directly benefit people who live or work in our area of benefit. If you are unclear if your project falls within our area of benefit please call the office for advice.

Tower Hill Trust (formally the Tower Hill Improvement Trust) was established in 1934 to improve the area around Tower Hill. In the early days the Trust purchased and demolished a number of ‘unsightly’ buildings to provide gardens and open public spaces. The Trust also created a beach at Tower Hill at a time when trips to the seaside were a luxury for many families from the East End.
